Poomsae: TaeGeuk 7 (Chil) Jang

The trigram associated with this pumsae represents a Mountain. Also, it represents the northwest and youngest son. The symbolism behind the mountain is the indomitable and majestic nature that all mountains possess. This pumsae is intended to be performed with the feeling that all movements are this majestic due to their unconquerable nature.

Promotion Test (2nd Geup -> 1st Geup):

  • At least 4 months elapsed since the last promotion
  • Perform 3 poomsae between TaeGeuk 1 ~ 6 Jang
  • Must Perform TaeGeuk 7 Jang
  • Roundhouse Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Side Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Straight Back Kick (Mid-High) / Hook Kick (Mid)
  • 2 minutes of Olympic sparring
  • 1/2″ X 12″ X 12″ Board Break (2 Breaks in a single station / Front Kick -> Turn -> Skip Side Kick / Up to 3rd Try. Both boards must be broken)
  • 1/2″ X 12″ X 10″ Board Break (2 Breaks in a single station / Jaebi Poomokchigi -> Turn -> Reach Hand / Up to 3rd Try. Both boards much be broken)
