  • Tongmilgi Junbiseogi (Log-Pushing Ready Stance)
  • Sonnal Bakkatchigi (In-to-Out Hand Chop)
  • Agwison Khaljaebi (Agwison = Arc Hand / Khaljaebi attacks the opponent’s uvula. Hitting the lower jaw is called “Nakteok”)
  • Momtong Hechomakki (Torso Double Block)
  • Mureupkkukki (Break the opponent’s knee with arc hand)
  • Nullomakki (Check Block / Push-down Block)

Kicks:

  • Double Side Kick (Mid-High)
  • Tornado Kick (a.k.a. 360 Roundhouse Kick)
  • Spinning Hook Kick (Mid-High)

Poomsae: Goryeo

Koryo, or Goryeo, is the name of an old Korean Dynasty. The people from the Goryeo defeated the Mongolian aggressors. It is intended that their spirit is reflected in the movements of the pumsae Koryo. Each movement of this pumsae represents the strength and energy needed to control the Mongols. The line of direction is the shape of the Hanja for a “Scholar”, learned man.

Promotion Test (1st Dan/Poom -> 2nd Dan/Poom):

  • At least 1 Year elapsed since the last promotion
  • “1st Poom” holder must be 15 or older. “1st Dan” holder must be 16 or older.
  • Perform 4 poomsae between TaeGeuk 1 ~ 8 Jang
  • Must Perform Goryeo
  • Front Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Roundhouse Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Side Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Straight Back Kick (Mid-High) / Hook Kick (Mid-High) / Spinning Hook Kick (Mid-High) / Tornado Kick (Mid)
  • 2 minutes of Olympic sparring
  • Using 1″ X 12″ X 10″ boards perform one hand break, one jumping kick break and one spinning kick break. All single station, not a 3 station break. Each board must be held higher than the practitioner’s waist line. Jumping kick board will be held at the head level (Up to 2nd Try)

  • Written essay: Leadership as a black belt (minimum 3 pages)

 After a successful test, the student will receive Kukkiwon issued 2nd Dan/Poom Certificate
