Poomsae: KeumGang
Keumgang means “diamond,” symbolizing hardness. Keumgang is also the name of the most beautiful mountain in Korea, as well as the Keumgang warrior, named by Buddha. Thus, the themes of hardness, beauty, and pondering permeate this poomsae.

Promotion Test (2nd Dan/Poom -> 3rd Dan/Poom):
- At least 2 Years elapsed since the last promotion
- “2nd Poom” holder must be 15 or older. “2nd Dan” holder must be 18 or older.
- Perform 4 poomsae between TaeGeuk 1 ~ 8 Jang, and Goryeo
- Must Perform Keumgang
- Front Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Roundhouse Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Side Kick (Low-Mid-High) / Straight Back Kick (Mid-High) / Hook Kick (Mid-High) / Spinning Hook Kick (Mid-High) / Tornado Kick (Mid-High) / Flying Side Kick / Jump Straight Back Kick
- 2 minutes of Olympic sparring
- Using 1″ X 12″ X 10″ board. 2 boards per break. Perform one hand break, one stationary kick Break, one jumping kick break and one spinning kick break. All single station. A set of 2 boards must be held higher than the candidate’s waist line. Jumping kick boards will be held at the head level (Up to 2nd Try)
- Written essay: Candidate’s choice of topic (minimum 5 pages)
After a successful test, the student will receive Kukkiwon issued 3rd Dan/Poom Certificate
